I love that families are opting for at-home newborn sessions. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy a newborn session in studio (especially in our cute little white space), but at-home sessions have an intimate vibe. I’ve found new mom’s tend to be more relaxed being in their own space while having their photos done. Forget the diaper bags, packing the car, or worrying if baby slept enough. You can have those special images in your own space, and you can be in your pajamas if you’d like.
The KEY to any at home newborn session is a space with big windows, natural light, and a neautral space. That doesn’t mean you need your entire home to be neutral or that you need a large home. I shot this entire newborn session in one room of the house, but we utilized the space to create a variety of angles and shots. I bring a mini set-up of background options, props, baskets, and additional lighting (if needed).
