A Muskoka cottage is the place to be this summer due to travel restrictions, and it happens to be a great backdrop for a family session too. This easy-going couple wanted to update their family photos as they have a beautiful little addition to the family, friends, meet Lily. She’s full of wiggles and expression, and she even braved riding a sea-do (scroll down to see).

I love this area, but in all my adventures and travelling, I had never been to Port Carling and wowza is it ever gorgeous. Ali’s family cottage is in the heart of Port Carling, which is where we shot at, and it did not disappoint. [PS. anyone eloping in the Muskoka area, let’s chat!]. My drive up, the weather was dark and rainy, and my drive home was even worse with a torrential downpour of rain the moment I hit the highway.  But the moment I turned into Ali’s cottage,  it felt like the Heaven’s opened, the sun came waltzing out, and the temperature instantly went up another 8 degrees. All that to say, I was definitely doing a happy dance.

One of my favourite shots from this day is an image of this family standing under the archway in the exact spot where Ali and Mike vowed their lives to each other. I love those moments where you can reflect on where you were a year ago, 10 years ago, or whenever. I love to look back and see where I was the year before or looking through my photos seeing the changes of the landscape around me or the drastic change of hair styles. My hope is that over the years, Ali and Mike, you’ll reflect on these cherished moments with your daughter at the cottage. I hope these bring you back to a sunny, June morning, and you remember how small she was and how much your family continues to grow over the years.

Happy Friday Friends!
